IP ratings and drop tests, and one figure they keep leaving out
The professional line is the only brand on this site that treats survival as a published specification.
Enclosures. The GLM 40-31 states IP 65 and a 1.5 m drop onto concrete; the GTC 12V-450-13 thermal camera states IP54 and 2 m; the GMS 120-27 detector states IP 54 with a shock-absorbing housing. No other brand here publishes those numbers at all, and they are what separates a tool that lives in a bag from one that lives in a drawer.
Accuracy figures. The GLM 40-31 distance meter, the GTC thermal camera and the GMS detector all omit the number that governs what they are for — while the cheaper consumer Bosch tools publish theirs. That is the recurring criticism of this brand across our reviews, and it is the same one every time.
